The Hidden Pines Barn sits on part of a 10 acre property which includes the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home and the Siskiwit Reception Hall and Conference Center. Joel bought the funeral home in 2003 from his father in law, James Jukuri, and his business partner, James Laurinaho. After some time, he began thinking of ways to use the land to complement his business. In 2014, he built a 40 ft by 84 ft pole barn on the land behind the funeral home to rent out for winter storage. He expanded the business in 2016 with the addition of the Siskiwit reception hall. The idea was to provide a space for a wide variety of events. It regularly gets used for wedding receptions, funeral luncheons, graduation parties, reunions, and meetings for large groups.

To provide more options for wedding parties, in 2019 he got the idea of using the pole barn as a wedding venue during the summer months. With the help of his wife, they worked on turning a plain, modern storage building into a rustic wedding barn. The result is a beautiful unique building tucked behind the town of Calumet, hidden by pine trees. The outdoor area provides a chapel in the woods with beautiful benches for seating. Its convenient location and private setting is the perfect place for you to celebrate your special day.
